Coquine is this really cute French restaurant/bistro located just south of Yonge and Eglinton. The minute you walk in you feel like you’re in France and it has a beautiful French art deco.
First of all I just want to say that the place has one of the most amazing bartenders and their martinis are fantastic! Last night I tried their Caesar for the first time and it was a winner as well! It had just the right amount of everything.
We started off with the Friture de Mer appetizer ($15). It had calamari, shrimp and fried fish, served with fresh vegetable slaw and sauce rémoulade. The seafood melted in your mouth and the sauce was phenomenal!
Coquine is also known for their French Onion Soup ($9), which I was told was excellent!
For dinner I ordered Steak Frites ($22). It was a dry aged New York striploin with herb butter, served with truffle oil and Parmesan frites. I must say the herb butter was a great addition to the steak, which was cooked to perfection and the French fries – I think so far they are my favorite.
If you’re a fan of crêpes you should get the Crêpe au Poulet ($15), which is filled with grilled chicken breast, sautéed mushrooms, spinach and brie, served with mixed greens.
I must say that every time I’m at the Coquine restaurant I always get an excellent service, food, and drinks! If you’re in the area, go check them out and bon appétit!
